Finding Balance: How I Juggle Motherhood, Entrepreneurship & Career Without Burning Out

Introduction

There’s a saying: "If you don’t schedule time to rest, your body will do it for you—whether you like it or not."

That was me this week—crying my eyes out because my body forced me to stop. It didn’t care about my big dreams or high aspirations; it just wanted sleep.

Balancing multiple roles—mother, entrepreneur, career coach, creative facilitator—means I’m constantly switching gears. Some days, I feel like I’m thriving. Other days, I feel like I’m drowning in to-do lists.

But over time, I’ve learned three powerful tools that help me stay grounded, productive, and present.

1. Prioritization: Choosing What Truly Matters Each Day

Forget the myth of "perfect balance"—you can’t do everything at once. Instead, I focus on what matters most each day.

On some days, that’s deep-cleaning the house. Other days, it’s 20 hours of back-to-back work. And sometimes, it’s about being fully present—playing with Ewa, chilling with my husband, or reconnecting with friends.

How I Prioritize Effectively

  • The Priority Matrix: Sort tasks into four categories—Do it now, Do it later, Delegate, or Delete.
  • Numbered To-Do Lists: Instead of listing everything, I rank my tasks by importance.
  • The Pomodoro Method: Work in focused sprints (25-45 mins), then take a short break—it’s a game-changer for productivity.
  • Scheduled Worrying: If an issue is stressing me out, I set a time to think about it later, so it doesn’t hijack my focus.

Lesson: Let go of the pressure to do everything. Focus on what moves the needle today.

2. Growth Mindset: Redefining Success & Progress

Becoming a mother completely shattered my expectations of what I could achieve daily. I used to set ambitious goals and feel frustrated when I couldn’t meet them.

After experiencing postpartum depression, I had to redefine success. Instead of focusing on huge milestones, I shifted to daily progress—because small wins add up over time.

Mindset Shifts That Helped Me

  • Break Big Goals into Daily Habits: Small, consistent steps lead to long-term success.
  • "Anti-Goals": Instead of adding tasks, I define what I won’t do (e.g., no overcommitting, no skipping meals).
  • Daily Prayers & Affirmations: Speaking positivity into my day helps me start strong.
  • Step Outside My Comfort Zone Daily: Even small challenges help me build resilience.

Lesson: You don’t have to do everything today—just take one step forward.

3. Support Networks: Leaning on Others Without Guilt

For years, I prided myself on being able to do everything alone. But I’ve since learned that community is everything.

I’m incredibly blessed to have:

  • Family nearby to help with childcare.
  • A trusted childminder who provides extra support.
  • Colleagues who uplift & inspire me at work.

How to Build a Strong Support Network

  • Give Before You Ask: Offer help freely—support is a two-way street.
  • Say Yes to Help: Accept offers without guilt (you don’t have to do it all).
  • Get Comfortable Asking: The right people want to support you—let them.

Lesson: Leaning on others doesn’t make you weak—it makes you stronger.

Final Thoughts: Balance is a Myth—But You Can Find Your Flow

The truth is, there’s no perfect balance. Some days, one area of life needs more attention than others—and that’s okay.

By prioritizing what matters, embracing progress over perfection, and leaning into support, I’ve found a way to keep moving forward—without completely burning out.
